First Christmas Card of the Year!

I guess it's never too early to start making your holiday cards right? Here is a sample of the card that we made on July 25 to celebrate Christmas in July! I cased this card from Robin Merriman, who recreated it from a card she saw in a craft magazine! Thanks for the inspiration Robin! Contact me if you are interested in coming to my next Christmas card class on September 19!

Rudolph Day!

Can you believe that Christmas is only 2 months away! My friend Leann over at The Old Parsonage http://somewouldevensayitglows.blogspot.com/  introduced me to Rudolph Day.  Celebrated on the 25th of every month, it is a day set aside to do something for the Christmas holidays.  In honor of Rudolph Day, I am sharing this ornament.  Isn't the fabric wonderful?  This is the new Stampin' Up! fabric.  I do not sew so I was sooo excited that this is a no sew project!  What is also nice, is that there is matching Deisgner Series Paper too!  A version of this ornament will be made and given to my co-workers, to our family for our annual ornament exchange, and for my daughter's teachers. So, if you are any of those people, please act surprised when you receive it!  Oh, I almost forgot,.....we will be making this at my Christmas Stamp Camp in November!  Happy Rudolph Day!  What will you do to celebrate!

Christmas Tag

Isn't this a cute tag?  The best part about it....it is reusable!  How can that be you ask?  The black paper is actually our Chalkboard Decor Elements paper.  So, you can give the tag and the recipient can erase the to and from and pass it along to someone they are giving a gift to!  We made this adorable tag at our team meeting last weekend using the Candy Cane paper from the Holiday Mini.  This will definitely be a project for my Christmas Stamp Camp coming in November!  Check your calendars and come join me to get a head start on Christmas!

Dollar Store Decor

Hello!  It has been awhile since I have posted!  We had a wonderful 10 day vacation during the first two weeks of August and the rest of August was spent preparing for the new school year!  I am returning to my fifth grade teaching position after four years.  During those four years, I was an instructional coach in my school district.  While I loved the job, I really missed being in the classroom with the students on a daily basis.  So.....we started back to school this past Monday.  It truly feels like I was never away! I know that I am where I belong!  It just feels right!
Anyway, that explains where I've been!  I have been stamping too!  This is a project that we did at my late July Stamp Camp and at my Senior Circle class.  We made a summer flower insert and also a Christmas wreath insert.  It is a great frame to be able to change out the picture depending on the season or holiday.  The frame came from our local Dollar General store.  I am not sure where else they are located, but they just seem to have better quality items. Everyone seems to be looking for inexpensive items that they can embellish, alter, or use to add to their projects.  This frame was $1 and it came with a beautiful white ribbon.  You can't see it in the picture because I couldn't get it to stand up correctly for the picture. I have had such fun scouring the store for items, that some of my customers have asked me to have a class with those items.....I am considering Cheap to Chic as the name of the class!  What do think about that idea?

Christmas in July!

This past week, I held my annual Christmas in July classes!  These are the projects that the guests made!
This is a cute poinsettia isn't it!?  Do you recognize the punch that was used to create the petals and the leaves?  It is the ornament punch!  Quick and simple.  I think that these would make great ornaments for a wreath or a tree too!

This is card number 2!  Love this new set!  Another very quick and simple card!  The clear mount stamps make lining the ornaments for the tree much easier!

I really liked how this turned out as well!  This is the first time that I used the wood sheets!  They cut nicely and the punches were easy to use on it as well!

This was the featured project on SCS last week!  Just in time for me to use at my classes!  I used the new holiday paper and I modified it slightly.  We made divider cards for the inside of the box!
What a nice way to carry your projects home!

It is never too early to start thinking about the holidays I guess!

Happy Rudolph Day!

Can you believe that today is Christmas in July! Only six more months until Christmas in December! It's really hard to believe that today with the extreme hot weather that we've had this summer!  Before we know it, we'll all be complaining that it is too cold!!!  My friend Leann celebrates Rudolph Day on the 25th of each month so this project is for Leann!  This is a project that we did at my July hostess club for Christmas in July!
The card base made with Cherry Cobbler cardstock might just be my new favorite Christmas red!  It is deeper than Real Red, but not as dark as Bravo Burgundy!  It is just right!  This is the first time that I used the wood sheets.....I like them!  They were easy to work with and I like the antique effect that the wood gives to the card!  This is one of the new holiday sets in the 2010 - 2011 Idea Book and Catalog.   It is called Welcome Christmas.  I think that the ladies enjoyed this one too!  What are you doing to celebrate Rudolph Day!?
